Looking for something relaxing and free to do in Pagosa Springs in the winter months? There are lots of things to do in Pagosa Springs in winter! Make sure to take time to walk along the San Juan river. This paved 1.9 mile trail follows the river from our hotel into downtown Pagosa Springs. It's a great walk, nicely paved, and can be a beautiful walk on a crisp winter day.
SKI + SNOWBOARD
Fun in the Snow!
With a brief 23 mile drive on US-160 East supplemented with gorgeous Colorado scenery lies Wolf Creek ski area. Wolf Creek maxes elevation at 11,904 feet (3,628 m) with 8 total lift systems. This scenic ski area is known for getting the most snowfall in the whole state of Colorado with a massive 480 inches of snow per year. With the longest run being the Navajo Trial at a length of 2 miles and 8 total lift systems makes skiing and snowboarding in the snow well, more fun!

There is nothing more relaxing and soothing after an eventful day of skiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling than jumping in a natural hot spring. Each hot spring includes minerals such as calcium, magnesium, silica, lithium, and even radium which is basically multivitamin for the skin!
BIRDING
Pagosa Springs has the best birdwatching!
Pagosa Springs is a great place for birdwatching throughout the year. Join us for the annual Christmas Bird Count, or take a hike on a trail any time of year to see a great variety of birds including the Lewis’s Woodpecker, soaring Ospreys, or the charming American Dippers along the river. The ponds in our backyard are great places to see waterfowl like Buffleheads!

With temperatures as low as 1 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter time, it is completely certain the ponds behind our hotel are thick and stable enough to support ice skating and ice fishing. The two ponds behind our very own hotel include ice skating and ice fishing all winter long with rentals from any ski shop nearby. Pagosa Springs Pavilion with a well maintained skating rink for a cheap entrance fee and rentals included.
